Dear A

Includes audio of the First Readings Project Singers led by J. David Moore
Dear A is a poem by CBC award-winning poet, Andrew Burton. The text is a follow up to his previous poem called Dear J. The two poems are a reflection of the poets journey of identity and finally coming to the point of being able to celebrate who he is. Dear A starts off with an encouragement and blossoms into celebration.
Perfect for concert themes about identity, names, and celebrating transformation.
Dear A
You can do this.
Over many years the pendulum has swung
from enthusiasm to despair.
Not all projects will work out as planned.
The unsatisfactory result
is grist for the mill
if you choose to see it as such.
It can be a means of gaining insight,
perspective, strength and direction.
The happy successes
are a feast of progress to be savored.
Take pleasure in those accomplishments,
learn from the failures
and seek out opportunities to grow,
develop and to guide others on their journey.
Life is short.
Live it full tilt.
Seek out new experience,
new adventure,
find and fulfill a quest or two.
Remember the dreams you set aside
and bring them back.
Do not go into the last moments of life with regret
over things left undone
but with sated reflection of a life fully lived.
Be well
A
